High Pressure Captive Power Plant (CPP)

At present the Paper industry have two boilers which generate low pressure steam for the usage of plant process requirement.

The industry management had replaced these two low pressure steam producing boiler and installed an new Captive Power Plant (CPP) first in India have a capacity of producing high pressure steam of 105 kg / cm2 with utmost risk.

Size and pressure of CPP boiler is arrived at keeping in view of high efficiency, low specific steam consumption in turbine and low carbon emission when compared with the conventional pressure levels of 64 kg / cm2 & 84 kg / cm2.

The specific steam consumption for power generation in CPP is less compared to existing two boilers. Also in the condensing mode, the specific power generation in turbine is high in the new CPP. Hence there is reduction in fossil fuel consumption and thereby reduction in CO2 emission level.

Biomass (Black Liquor) Project

In the Pulp and paper making Process, the raw material (Bagasse, Wood chips and waste paper) will be cooked in a digestor, for this a few chemicals are used along with steam. These chemicals will be washed out from the pulp by spraying water and the liquor (weak Black liquor) thus drained is processed in an evaporator to concentrate the liquor containing chemicals. The collected liquor named as black liquor having organic matters. This black liquor is fired in a recovery boiler as a fuel which produces Steam and Power in the co-generation process. Hence there is a saving in fossil fuel consumption and reduces CO2 emission.

Methane Mitigation Project

The Paper industries which are using bagasse as a raw material are bound to generate high organic effluent. The Methane gas is liberated from the organic effluent.

Currently this organic effluent is collected in open lagoon hence the Methane gas liberated is not properly used and it gone to atmosphere freely. The proposed project involves the installation of a closed Anaerobic Digestor for collecting the Methane gas. Methane gas recovered from the digestor will be used as a supporting fuel in the process Limekiln in addition to the furnace oil.

Through this, Methane emission is not only mitigated but would also reduce the furnace oil consumption and its associated GHG emissions.

Energy Efficiency and Energy Conservation Project

Previously the Co-gen sugar plant has produces seam and power for the process of sugar and power generation. Due to inefficient and high specific steam consumption of process equipment causes wastage of fuel.

Hence the management addresses to install efficient equipment thereby reducing the specific steam consumption in the process cycle by improving the heat transfer rate and gainfully utilized the heat so recovered in the process. This enhances a 20 % reduction in fossil fuel consumption.
